Our family is expecting another addition any day now. Baby boy Neal is still inside his momma’s tummy, but the day of his birth is very close. Last night, I read out loud to him in the womb a book that Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Smith gave him at the shower. He had the hiccups and was trying to settle down for the night.
Just In Case You Ever Wonder, written by Max Lucado, starts out like this: “Long, long ago God made a decision—a very important decision…one that I’m really glad He made. He made the decision to make you. The same hands that made the stars made you. The same hands that made the trees and the moon and the sun made you. That’s why you are so special. God made you.”
Oh yes, You shaped me first inside, then out; You formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank you, High God—You’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration—what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before You, the days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day. Psalm 139: 13-16 MSG
Father God, our family trusts You for, and rejoices over; this new addition. We can’t wait to meet this little guy. Thank You for blessing us with this child during this particular season. The date and time of his birth is purposeful and carefully planned. He, along with my beautiful granddaughters, are Your image bearers. My prayer is that they will get to know and love You at an early age and then be able to share Your love with their neighbor as they love and get to know themselves. “Most of all, I’ll be here to teach you about God. He loves you. He protects you. He and His angels are always watching over you.”—Max Lucado
